Home Forums DESIGN DILEMMA Design Solution For Tiny Bathroom

I wanted to share with all of you a crazy design undertaking that I just completed to try to make something of a tiny bathroom that we had in our house. This bathroom (before picture below), was as small as a closet with weird metal bars on the windows and felt a lot like a hospital bathroom when we moved in. After weeks of consideration on how to make this bathroom stand out, I realized that sometimes, being loud in your design principals in a small space CAN make it feel larger and create impact.

We wanted to play off the creepiness of this bathroom and the bars on the windows and decide to do a gothic twist with a play on Alice and Wonderland. The walls were painted white and then after measuring the entire space, we drew and painted out the black stripes. Throwing in bright purples and hot pinks through artwork that played off the theme was a way to still bring color in to the space without sacrificing the integrity of the concept. To take it one step further (because why not?!), we bought two oval mirrors and a wall decal of the Cheshire Cat and created the cat face with mirrors as eyes.

While I know this style is NOT for everyone, I thought it would be a great example for those out there who are stuck with a tiny bathroom and not sure how to give it life. I don’t think you always have to go soft and neutral in a small space. We are so pleased with how it came out!

I love the “out of the box” creativity! So many bathrooms are small. What you did with the space is awesome!!!! It’s fun and unique! You did a great job from the thought process to the end result!

I love that you had the confidence to “be loud in your design principles”. So often people go with what is safe rather than what reflects who they are. How fun is this! Grinning

I love the way you breathed life into a dead , drab space! Upon completion you now have a living breathing room that not only defines your style but is a feast for the eyes!!! Great job!!

I love what you did with the tiny bathroom. It is really creative and I bet many guests will linger in there longer than usual to soak in the coolness!

Your bathroom re-do is stunning! You gave such an odd space flair and a fun personality. I love your theme and I totally agree with Elizabeth— why wouldn’t a guest want to linger somewhere fun?

Thank you all for the love! It is so encouraging when your design ideas come to life and get good reviews ❤️ I’m sure everyone on here has had a moment like that!

I so love what you have done with the do over in your bathroom. I’m helping a friend who has a similar dilemma. Her bath is very small, and like an alley. I, especially like the way you did the walls. Although she is more of a Farmhouse woman, I can take your ideas, and incorporate to match her style. Thank YOU, so much for sharing.
