My wife and I moved into a new house two years ago. She picked out some beautiful grey kitchen cabinets for the builder to install. Now, even though they still look great, she has re-painted the cabinets white. The new color looks good, too, but I’m afraid she’ll want to change the color again in another two years. What should I do?

I say you just let her do it. Different moods bring on different colors. At least if she is painting them often you won’t ever have to clean them!

Do what all good (and smart) husbands do. Just tell her how good it looks and move on.

Keeping your home looking “fresh” is important to keep you feeling “newness” within your home. She may very well want to repaint in two years but hey- it beats moving or a kitchen remodel! Slapping a fresh paint color on your walls is the most efficient and cost effective way to making a big change in how your home FEELS. I say be grateful that all she wants to do is paint and thankful she didn’t ask for a full kitchen demo!
